D. A. Anderson

Daniel Alan Anderson, born in 1988 in California, is a Canadian-American author. Children of Vale is his debut novel.

He began writing it in Silver Spring, Maryland, US, in 2004. He finished it in April of 2017 in San Francisco. He lives in Oakland, California.

Anderson independently published Children of Vale after a successful fundraising campaign on Kickstarter.

How was it published?

I published independently to preserve my rights as an author and maintain creative control. After much research, I created a Kickstarter campaign to fund the initial expenses of publication.

Kickstarter is a platform for independent creators to get the word out about their project and raise funding. With Kickstarter, I met my funding goals with minimal risk to my backers.

When did your Kickstarter run?

How long is the book?

As a 5"x8" paperback, the novel is 396 pages long. Rather than conventional chapters, the book is divided into 81 vignettes, each headed by a Roman numeral.

What subgenre of sci-fi?

Fans of noir sci-fi, steampunk, and cyberpunk will find something to love in Children of Vale. If it had its own category, it could be "medieval future".
